Felt like doing a video to show some progress since I will not be releasing anything yet. What is new (that you can see) in this video is a brief demonstration of how the interface will be ‘moveable’. A new Ship Status Display (lower left) not complete yet obviously, but that’s more to design choice…not sure how it I want it to look finally. I want it to display your current ships image (scaled down), your shield status, armor, and maybe speed on the status panel, the power and damage are kind of straight forward.
There’s also a box for where your current enemy target and his status can be viewed, it will have hull/armor etc in the future, now it is just shields. The firing arcs are in as you can see the projectiles and lasers all come from the same spot on the player ship. The firing arcs are also there, the projectiles have a 45 degree arc for now and 60 for lasers on the front, all subject to change.
You select targets by clicking on them, and that needs a targeting reticule to surround your current target.
From here for a more ‘complete’ version I will be putting in additional place holders for all the various class of ship you can fly, giving the enemy classes some base stats, add in more graphics/sound assets as I get them, finish the interface elements and continue balancing, like corvette vs dreadnought, cruiser vs corvette. Since I want all ships to be viable at any stage in the game.
Once that’s in it just needs to be polished and balanced to a certain point, where it can be further balanced.
